Spud Cannon – “Juno” + “Supersonic”

Vassar alums deliver a pair of dynamic, catchy pop rock gems

As shows finally, maybe, hopefully start to hit the calendar for a few months from now, we’re certainly circling Spud Cannon’s name as a band we can’t wait to see. The raucous quintet of Vassar College alums whip up an infectious blend of indie rock and pop as evidenced by “Juno” and the just-released “Supersonic,” the first two singles off of their new album, Good Kids Make Bad Apples.

The two tracks are the product of all-nighter, sneak-past-security recording sessions at Vassar’s squash courts where the band stumbled on a sort of Wall of Sound acoustic setting. With each song recorded in one take, you can really hear Spud Cannon’s wonderful dynamic click into place like a rock ‘n roll Voltron.
