Stream NtrlTaste’s “Aftertaste” EP

After teaming up and dropping several singles and remixes throughout the year—including a funky rework of William Bolton’s “Fading”–Russian electronic duo NtrlTaste recently released the Aftertaste EP, a three-track trap treatise. Comprised of producers lostsvund and flatdelishes, the relatively reclusive duo has been in action since May, dropping slick, buoyant future bass music that pulls predominantly from synthpop, R&B and hip-hop.

The project’s three songs are fully divergent, a clever showcase of their versatility. Collectively, the EP exhibits the duo’s ability to craft layered, bouncy electronic music, but each engenders a different mood for the listener.

“Pink Bear” rides a titanic, searing synth. Cleverly, the group relies on the lead melody to bring it home, crafting relatively subdued drum programming. “Money Talks” is the project standout, a groovy number with a heavy R&B influence. The playful vocal sample that whisks throughout the composition belies the track’s cutesy appeal. “Help Myself” is a deft remix where the guys give a futuristic makeover to the classic R&B aesthetic.

Aftertaste is a winner that will surely have more long-lasting satisfaction than any McCafe drink. You can listen to the EP below.
