Los Angeles based singer-songwriter The Nicholas crafts elegant surf-pop tunes laced with mellow instrumentals and sun-soaked harmonies. Although his music carries a strong California influence, The Nicholas grew up in Holland, where music was a constant in his life. His parents, both musicians, raised him on artists like Elliot Smith, Nick Drake, and Sparkle Horse, and it shines through in his latest track, “Teardrops.” Part of his upcoming EP, Sonder, “Teardrops” is a peek into The Nicholas’ style, his ability to brew breezy tracks with eloquent lyrics, like, “Heart grows fonder. you’re out of sight / Maybe it’s a dream can’t make sense of my gloomy mind.”

Regarding his upcoming EP, The Nicholas explains its premise as “the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own… These thoughts can be really overwhelming but also put things in perspective. This contrast is something I really like. This big contrast is something I really like and I feel like the songs on the EP cover small bits of it”.
