Since Tjutjuna's maxi-cassingle with “Desert Song”, which we covered last year, the band experienced a lineup shakeup that resulted in a new touring drummer but the absence of one of its founding members. It's hardly noticeable though in the debut we have today, “Harry Krishna”. Whether the song was completed before the lineup changes or the band re-recorded its music to reflect the current lineup is unknown, but an upcoming tour with Acid Mother's Temple has us confident that we won't see a shift in sound direction anytime soon.
Tjutjuna's strength has always lied in capturing that isolated feeling with its instrumental post-rock and “Harry Krishna” conjures that sense of being in the desert at night when the stars become projectors and all those flashing beacons of satellites are mimicked through the guitar signals. As “Harry Krishna” begins to tumble and burn it's as though all those satellites malfunctioned at once to become shooting stars burning up in our atmosphere.
