San Diego psych rockers usher in Halloween season with spooky new track and video

Spooky season is upon us once again, and to celebrate, our favorite San Diego garage-psych purveyors Wild Wild Wets have unleashed another groovy, suspenseful new song and video. The ominous “Hocus Pocus” is a rollicking and trippy rock track that arrives just in time for Halloween.

“‘Hocus Pocus’ was recorded many many moons ago in an afternoon house session with our friend Bryan Prusiensky. Our old mate Jason Crane (Rocket From the Crypt) played all the drums, congas, and trumpet,” the band shared. “We recently found this in the vaults and wanted to raise it from the dead for Halloween.”

The song features plenty of crunchy reverb and propulsive rhythms, as well as hypnotic vocals repeating the phrase “Hocus Pocus” to mesmerizing effect. The track’s blaring horns are especially spine-tingling. The video clip – directed by Derrick Acosta – gives the song a nice gothic kick with shots of the Grim Reaper skateboarding through a graveyard, a hazy tarot card and crystal ball-reading session, and other ghostly imagery. Check it out below.
