In an attempt to preserve then celebrate a long history of music knowledge and collection, Johan Kugelberg/Boo-Hooray Gallery and Gavin Brown's Enterprise have been publicly archiving hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa's extensive record collection. To publicly archive is a beautiful thing because it means the collection is available to not just academics and students—anyone can go to the gallery right now and hear some of the most important records to influence the early foundations of hip hop before the archive gets moved to the Cornell University Hip Hop Collection. The gallery space is open from 11 to 5pm and you can find it at 265 Canal Street on the sixth floor. For more info, check Gavin Brown's Enterprise.
