While Cookie Monster voice are a dime a dozen in the world of modern metal, Cephalic Carnage's new album does serious damage to the staid stereotypes of metal instrumentals, bringing in dissonant proggy inflections that bust open that big iron door between the dull and overdone and the limitless possibilities of genre-mashing.
