Moogfest ups the fest regardless of Moog

Moogfest, the festival in celebration of the late and great music pioneer Bob Moog, has been augmenting the hip-hop in their lineup recently, announcing the addition of Nas (with a nine piece band, no less) as well as the ruckus-bringing Death Grips.

These additions come to an already star-studded lineup that includes the likes of Primus, Squarepusher, Explosions in the Sky, Four Tet, Divine Fits, The Magnetic Fields, El- P, Bear in Heaven, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Julia Holter, Santigold, Pantha Du Prince, Killer Mike and GZA performing Liquid Swords.

While the festival schedule has not yet been posted, it is hard to imagine that a two-day festival with this many big names won’t produce some conscience-tearing stage decisions. This is the third year running for the annual Moogfest and their first year offering a two-day lineup as opposed to the three days of 2010 and 2011. The festival has eliminated the pesky Sunday festival day that makes it both difficult to leave and even more difficult to go to work the next day.

However, for those seeking a fuller experience, Moogfest’s sales page also offers a discounted rate on Ashville’s Justice show being held at the US Cellular Center on Thursday, October 25th for those still seeking the three-day experience.

Moogfest is set to take place on Friday, October 26th and Saturday the 27th in Asheville, North Carolina.
