Porches announces new record and Domino signing

Today Porches announced its signing to Domino Recording Company to release the proper follow-up to 2013’s Slow Dance In The Cosmos. Though he goes by many nom-de-plume’s, such as Ronald Paris, Aaron Maine’s Porches project has been the guiding force of his songwriting. Although the album title and release date remain withheld, Porches released the single “Hour” ahead of upcoming CMJ showcases.

Maine’s moniker no longer requires the full stop of punctuation (Porches.), but the essence of his project remains as lead single “Hour” features longtime collaborator Frankie Cosmos and leans towards the electronic side of his vacillating structures, which is to say with Maine its either folk or electronic but never to be mistaken as folktronica. When we last spoke with Maine, he expressed ““I’m trying to find some medium between electronic music and folk and all that stuff that I listen to.” Adding, “I’m interested in so many different types of music that it’s hard to stick to one genre, but I’m working on finding my niche.” With “Hour”, Porches might be signed to a label with a legacy, might sound more polished, but Maine is still damaged in the cosmos, singing of darkest hours while stoned and pining in his bedroom on a twin bed.
