Last year when we interviewed Mikey Young of Total Control (and a dozen other projects), he had the briefest of information to offer regarding the next Total Control LP. Henge Beat exploded into our guts three years ago and today Australia's Total Control has announced the release of Typical System, the post-punk band's sophomore album on Iron Lung.
In addition to the announcement, Total Control freed “Flesh War” into the wild. Young told us Total Control is where the ideas that don't fit into his other bands go to live. His word holds up on “Flesh War” as we could not picture this synth-driven anthem for wounded hearts existing in the garage rock ruin of Eddie Current Suppression Ring or the scuzzy blitzkrieg of Ooga Boogas. “Flesh War” is Total Control exploring new wave without losing the gnarl of its punk roots.
Total Control's Typical System is out June 24 on Iron Lung Records.
