Post Author: , Eric Phipps

The tenth edition of the free, annual Afropunk Festival came to an end on Sunday, August 24 in Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, NY with performances by Princess Nokia, Sewer Rats BK (featuring CX Kidtronik), Gordon Voidwell, Junior Astronomers, Lonely Horse, Cakes Da Killa, Straight Line Stitch, Tamar-kali, The Tontons, The Wilding Incident (featuring Sascha Jenkins and Danny Diablo/Lord Ezec), Meshell Ndegeocello, Fishbone, Cro-Mags, D’Angelo backed by The Roots (who took the stage around the time his set was scheduled to end) and more. There were also DJ sets by $1 Bin, Juliana Huxtable, MikeQ (who had dancers from Qween Beat during his sets), Dub-Stuy Sound System, Mista Selecta and Mane Squeeze, Jasmine Solano and Melo X, plus others.

We dispatched photographers Edwina Hay, Brandon Haynes, and Eric Phipps to cover as many live performances as they could on Sunday for this gallery. Photos from the first day of Afropunk 2014 are available here.

Afropunk closes out with sets by Cro-Mags, Meshell Ndegeocello, and some guy you may have heard of called D’Angelo.
