On Sunday, July 30, Rock Steady Crew celebrated their fortieth anniversary with a free (and final) annual show at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. The City Park’s SummerStage concert was hosted by End of the Weak and featured sets by Haddy Racks, Napoleon da Legend, Milano, DJ JS-1, MC Eiht with DJ Premier, DJ Tony Touch, MC Lyte, and a tribute to Prodigy featuring a live performance from Mobb Deep‘s Havoc where friends and fans rapped Prodigy’s words. There were also surprise performances by Grandmaster Caz and Mighty Mike C (of The Fearless Four), Craig G, Double X Posse, and R.A. the Rugged Man (and his adorable daughter). Photographer Edwina Hay covered the afternoon event for us for this gallery. During the show, Crazy Legs announced that Rock Steady Crew will launch their own music festival called “Rock Steady for Life” next year, and is stepping down and handing over duties to RC B Girl, Feenix.

Rock Steady Crew hold their final anniversary show in Central Park by remembering Prodigy of Mobb Deep.
