If you’re looking for a new party anthem for the warm months, there’s a very good chance you’ll find it on electro duo Phantoms‘ debut, self-titled album, which just dropped today. Although they really hit the ground running with remixes of big time favorites (Rihanna & Drake’s “Work“, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj’s “Side To Side“), they’re about to make their mark with this phenomenal collection of dance music.
Through eleven insanely well produced tracks, Phantoms has provided a lightweight, pop vibe amongst glittering bass drops and seductive vocals. From the precise drawl into lead track “She Never Tells Me” to the smooth sounds of “Someone To Talk About” (ft. Grace Mitchell‘s ethereal vocals), Phantoms establishes a slow, hip swaying tone that continues rear its head throughout the album.
One of the most notable tracks, in our humble opinion, is “Tried To Be Nice”, featuring vocals from Harlie. Her voice is absolutely electrifying, singing about struggling with boundaries in a certain type of relationship. “Throw It In The Fire” is also a personal favorite, providing a carefree feeling and leading to the notion of burning one’s demons. It almost serves as the therapeutic track to the album, while tenth track “Pulling Me In” throws listeners through the opposite loop. And yet, it’s a beautiful contradiction that highlights emotional variations we can all relate to.
That’s the power in this album, whose theme lies only in the easy-going compositions, tying together the flurry of remarkable thoughts and observations that have been realized in the lyrics.
