Animal Eyes’ Newest Video for “Mushroom Hunter” Will Make You Want to Get Weird

Alaska isn’t necessarily known to grace the music industry with a slew of great artists, which lends itself to the fact that we’re stifled at the talent of Animal Eyes. Their sound is very vintage rock ‘n roll, with psychedelic and pop undertones. The band’s most recent work–created during a very turbulent time in their lives–is titled Where We Go, and was released on May 20. The album is diverse and, at times, otherworldly.

We are more than ecstatic to premiere Animal Eyes’ newest music video, named “Mushroom Hunter”. It is like an OK GO video on crack, with visuals reminiscent of the classic 1960s and 1970s psychedelic rock landscape. Do you like crawling around on all fours? Do you like dressing up in crazy, furry getups? Do you enjoy the feeling of dozens of clothespins snapped onto your skin at the same time? Animal Eyes does, and they show off all their crazy antics for us here.

“The idea started from our ancient desire to dance like ’90s boy bands in a freak show,” band member Tyler Langham elaborates. “We contacted our close family friend Daniel Sloan, an amazing circus performer out of Seattle, who had this freak show bit that we all loved and he agreed to be a part of it.  We had a ton of fun with it and it’s meant to be just that.”

In fact, Static Distance reviewed the song when it first hit the airwaves last year, stating, “It’s unlike anything we’ve heard from the band yet and if it’s any sign of things to come, we’re all in for something weird.”

Well, this is everyone’s something weird.

Where We Go is out now.
