Bloody Knees, “DAYDREAM”

“DAYDREAM”, the latest single from Cambridge’s thrashing pop-punks Bloody Knees plays with some creeptastic visual themes that usually don’t come out until the sun goes down. In keeping with the band’s apparent fascination with body parts, the slasher-esque video for “DAYDREAM” was apparently inspired by a documentary the band recently watched that claimed the bum hole is the entry way to the soul. The plot, according to their publicist, explores each band member’s soul. Good news (or bad?), no bum holes appear in the video.

With/or without that premise in mind, a farcical visual ode to Norwegian Death Metal, The Blair Witch Project and fried food zombies unfolds over the blood-pumping, power-punk track. All cinematic integrity aside, guitarist/singer Bradley Griffiths’ dedication to schtick makes this one of the best absurdist music videos we’ve seen in a long time. The wheelbarrow bumpers goofed (in the best way) by bassist Sam Conway are the icing on the comedic cake.
