Chuck Strangers ft. Joey Bada$$, "Style Wars"

Post Author: Andre G

Who knows what “King Of New York,” actually means or what it gets you. That said, when Joey Bada$$ volunteered his candidacy in March, he forgot to mention being at the helm of one of New York hip-hop’s most important crews: Pro Era. Being affiliated with a thick roster of talented artists like Chuck Strangers is quite an accomplishment. Strangers’ latest track, the “Style Wars” lyrical exercise, is a strong example – and Joey himself showed up to bolster the song.
Rhyming over melancholy keys and minimalist drums which gives their voice the spotlight, Chuck and Joey trade bars and showcase their impressive lyricism. Joey proclaims that rap is “just deadbeats and adlibs,” and Chuck questions how “n*ggas claimin’ they the best while Rakim still breathin’.” Good point. Style Wars is a standout track from Consumers Park, Strangers’ recently released album.
