Phoenix, Arizona's Destruction Unit unleash the video for their song "Evil Man" from the upcoming album Void. The video, filmed by the Ascetic House Collective over a period of two years, reflects the creative zeal that must certainly grow out of a youth spent secluded in the Sonoran Desert. It features a series of blown-out VHS clips spliced together, panning back and forth between shooting ranges, barren landscapes, cemeteries and abandoned buildings. Portions of the video are filmed in the former home of Aleister Crowly who, appropriately enough, had a fairly evil persona himself.
Not many bands could pull off a name like Destruction Unit, but these guys are an exception to the rule. They've spent more than a decade perfecting their sound, putting out slew of records since their first release almost 13 years ago. Deep, wavering vocals hang low in the mix in this latest track, their resonance drowned out by dreamy leads and a heavy, driving bass guitar. The hook drones on, repeating over and again, forceful and unyielding in what feels like it could be the soundtrack to a b-movie car chase scene.
Destruction Unit's Void is set to be released February 19 on Jolly Dream Records. The band hits the road shortly thereafter, see the dates below.
