Happy Place, “Rupture”

Post Author: Meredith Schneider
New York’s very own Happy Place – fronted by Will Mason on drums, drummer Austin Vaughn (Here We Go Magic, Pavo Pavo) and guitarists Andrew Smiley (Little Women, Will Mason Ensemble) and Will Chapin (Empyrean Atlas) – is set to release their debut LP, Northfield, on October 28th via Exit Stencil. We’ve got the premiere of the music video for their song “Rupture” right here.
A man driving, and then falling asleep at the wheel. Then a shot of that same man floating, then waking up on a sandy shore. He looks dazed, and then he is drinking out of a mug. (Where did he get the mug?) He wades back out into the water, and then happens upon a cabin in what seems to be the middle of nowhere. The video goes on in this same vein, the instrumentals of “Rupture” colliding in a cacophony of magnificent sound – almost like the backdrop to a favorite movie – while this same man climbs trees, struggles to stay awake in his car, rides a bike, starts a fire.
In the end, it’s headlights in an obvious car wreck. So did any of it even happen?
