Jeremy Waun, “Pages”

Jeremy Waun has been getting loud with Detroit psych rock band Reverend since 2010, but his softer side shines through on his solo albums, the latest of which is City Vibes, out on Feeding Tube records. The video for Waun’s song “Pages” was made by Joey Pizza Slice (also known as Son of Salami), best known for his record A Study in Eraser Headless Tape Recording, which is exactly what it sounds like.

“We wanna see things changin’, but we don’t wanna make the changes,” Waun sings under a bed of lo-fi fuzz. The video is as weirdly soothing as Waun’s raspy croon: the image of marathon runners running in opposite directions creates a sense of “one step forward, two steps back” motion. In the end it’s just a dreamy haze anyways, or, as the wise Jeremy Waun tells us, “All our days are just pages, find ‘em in the strangest places”.
