Little Big League, “Year of the Sunhouse”

Post Author: Quinn Moreland

Upon watching Little Big League’s video for “Year of the Sunhouse,” the title of their debut album, These Are Good People, immediately comes to mind. In this case, the Good People are members of Lvl Up, Rescuer, Ovlov, and Signals Midwest, who all make cameos in this sentimental and endearing video. The video feels like a snapshot of tour life, which makes sense since singer Michelle Zauner made the friend-filled visual diary using clips from Little Big League’s May tour. “Year of the Sunhouse” is one of two tracks from Little Big League’s upcoming split with Ovlov, and the song’s lyrics teeter between apprehensive and empowered, the latter being most prominent when Zauner sings, “They ask ‘Are you still playing basement shows with the band? / Doing the music thing?'” Only to affirm, “Well yes I fucking am!” In the video, this final line perfectly corresponds to footage of someone throwing up the devil horns in front of a row of fiery guitars, as if to says, “Yeah, we still fucking rock.”

The Little Big League/Ovlov split 7″ will be out on Tiny Engines August 1, you can pre-order it here.
