The video for Lushlife's "Still I Hear The Word Progress" tells the story of a white suburban family and a father with a deep-seeded psychosis towards J.Dilla fans, or at least that's our interpretation. He hates Donuts, and the endless references to Dilla made in publication, to a point that he's driven mad by it. The song has always had a darkness within it, mostly propelled by the flourishing 8-bit samples and the robotic chorus. To see it set to a violent plotline further distorts the "hold me down" chorus as it blips into a hypnotic outro.
Lushlife's Plateau Visions is out now.
