Premiere: Plateaus, “Do it For You”

Plateaus played our CMJ Imposition back in October of last year, and since then they've been working towards this new 7-inch that's about to come out on Hozac on May 29. To celebrate the release of this new single and accompanying claymation high speed chase video, we asked the band some questions.

What is the story being told in this video? Who is the biker? Who is in the cars?

Its just your general story of good vs evil, hero vs villain.

Did Derrick Acosta come up with this narrative or was it a vision for you all along?

Derrick worked very closely with Dusty Dirtweed (who has done most of our album art work and flyers). We gave them the song and left the concept up to them. We have worked with Dusty a lot so he knows generally what we like, and we trust his taste, he has never let us down.

What about the flickering VHS aesthetic appeals to you? Why use that instead of a glossy new video?

Kevin: We couldn't afford any better

Elliott: Because this ain't a fucking Lady Gaga video.

Jon: The song is all distorted and was recorded on a cassette tape so it kinda matches the music.

Chris: I hate new technology.
