TR/ST – “Gone” video

Post Author: Jeff Cubbison

Veteran Toronto goth-pop group TR/ST released its terrific third album The Destroyer – Part 1 last week, and we’ve been particularly enamored with its effervescent single “Gone” ever since. Over sparkling synths melodies and propulsive industrial dance beats, project mastermind Robert Alfons smolders with his brooding vocal croon, conveying vibes of intense longing, shame, regret, and nostalgia for a romantic past.

Now he’s unveiled the track’s haunting, minimal video – directed with hazy DIY aplomb by Jordan Hemingway. In it, Alfons sings, dances and postures dramatically for the camera – under a layer of staticky VHS-style visual overlays and a wave of kaleidoscopic colors. It’s a beautiful low-budget production that perfectly captures the melancholy and turbulence inherent in the track. It’s yet another stunning visual effort from TR/ST. Watch it below, and be sure to give The Destroyer – Part 1 a spin.
