Inner Oceans, “Apparition”

Post Author:

Denver’s hauntingly talented three piece Inner Oceans – comprised of frontman Griffith Snyder, guitarts/programmer Charles Kern, and multi-instrumentalist Julia Mendiolea – have done it again.  After July’s debut single “WILD” was met with critical acclaim, we now hold the key to their future – the exclusive premiere of their single “Apparition”.

The song starts out soft, staccato, as if the composition itself is walking on eggshells. At 0:18 it whirrs into a multi-faceted dream of sound, entrancing its receiver. Eventually, the percussion comes in and brings with it a pop influenced vocal fantasy. A fantasy versus reality situation which, ultimately, is what Inner Oceans aim to address in their music.

“Addiction Anxiety Insomnia
Forgetting who you are
Too much contradicting information
Trying to differentiate between reality and fantasy
Not knowing what to listen to
Not knowing what’s pursuing you
Is it trying to help or harm?”
Quote from Griff Synder
