How many publicists does Neon Indian have?
» Ever wonder why some artists get universal adoration from press outlets while others seem doomed to obscurity? Let us introduce you to the PR industry.
Cash money
Having the ability to afford a publicist helps reach the masses. Having the ability to afford four separate publicists who all reach different demographics really helps. Although, we think they should spread out their e-mails a little bit. All four in barely an hour reminds us of a phrase involving a dead horse and beating it.
In case you were wondering, this is what they were trying to tell us about.

As mos def said, the harder you flash, the harder you get flashed on- He was talking about getting mugged but I think the saying applies in this context. There's nothing necessarily wrong with bands having pr and managers and crap but as an artist you gotta make sure they represent you well and don't blow yr spot up.

oh, come on, it's just that 3 of the 4 work for cornerstone the fader and they just really wanted to get their lack of interdepartmental communication across as clearly as possible!

It's their manager's fault. He's a moron.

as a publicist, i feel the need to defend my ilk. it's certainly ridiculous that there are that many publicists emailing you (in the same hour, no less!) but i'm not quite sure it's because neon indian has gobs of money. generally, the label and distributors will have their own publicists, not to mention those plugging the album overseas (some US based publicists do international press, some do not) my guess, if anything, is that this is more an error on behalf of management. managers should be working in their clients best interest, working with the labels and their publicist(s) to make sure gaffes like this don't happen.

How many publicists does it take to screw in a light bulb? I'm not sure, but I bet they'll just email someone to do it for them.

funny thing is, this isn't even all of his guys! there are "publicists" that have written me saying that they can do this for the low, low price of $1000 and they rep this neon indian band thing as one of the bands they "made". only $1000 to copy and paste a few annoying emails? OKAY!!
