Luxxury, “Hold On” (Crackazat remix)

Post Author:

Contemporary disco-funk act Luxxury was first the solo project of LA’s Blake Robin, aka Baron von Luxxury, but Robin’s smooth, tongue-firmly-in-cheek productions have a new dimension these days with the permanent addition of keyboardist and producer Billy Caruso (Laco$te). “Hold On” is a sleek track that sounds like a late ’70s vision of the future, eyes crusted with glitter and shiny with narcotics, teetering on the brink of nihilism even though it exhorts listeners to keep going. Here it’s broken down into its constituent parts and re-imagined in more stark, minimal terms by composer, producer and DJ Crackazat, less end-of-the-world cocktail lounge and more alien dancefloor.

The Hold On/Take It Slow EP will be available on March 4 via Deep&Disco. Luxxury makes their full-band live debut with Escort February 24 at Teragram Ballroom in LA. Listen to “Hold On (Crackazat Remix)” below:
