Queens’ Punskription–a duo composed of Pete the Lone Lono and P. Cruz–make the kind of music that is nerdy and hyper aware of its surroundings. In the band’s new EP Native Brains: Foreign Hearts, we’re taken through a whirlwind of tracks ranging from themes about dismantling oppressive fascist structures to lines like “I’m going to colonize/with my last name/like a double blade.” Punskription plays with aggressive electronics meld well with the duo’s message and rapping style. The album is not a passive listen, it forces you to think big about politics–albeit through carefully calculated and unbelievably fun rhyme and wordplay.
