Electronic artist, DJ, and producer Avicii has been tragically found dead at 28. The electronic maven died in Oman, Sweden according to his PR reps:
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.
The artist had stepped back from live performing in 2016, citing myriad health issues such as acute pancreatitis, and having his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014. He was still creating though. His self-titled EP was just nominated for a Billboard Music Award. He also co-wrote “GHOST” with Swedish-Grammy-award-winning collective HUMAN, which was released in February.
Just yesterday, international marketer for Universal Music Nicole O’Sullivan echoed the sentiment of many when she called Avicii “a musical genius and global superstar” in The Irish Times.
