Norse Horse up the avant-pop

Post Author:

Last we checked with Norse Horse we were enamored with their woozy tropical (not “tropical”) guitar and chatting about Korean brothel tax, and especially this one track (see “Shoodkikds” in the player below), and now the LA band has an EP of a completely different flavor called Grids.

While some of the odd atmospherics that endeared us to Norse Horse to begin with still undulate up out of the mix, the EP is a craftsman's outing, intent on reigning in the head-nod repetition that marks much of a baeleric fever in exchange for the art of carefully jointed sections, baroque guitar arpeggios, and pro-production.

God-willing the pop snobs of the world will hear this and lose their heads in joy. Spread it!
