SWAPS is the result of four very talented experimentalists (Ed Rodriguez and John Dieterich of Deerhoof, Ches Smith of Secret Chiefs 3, and Steve Touchton of XBXRX) banding together for a sonic adventure through bizarrely lush regions. Their self-titled 10-inch, out September 13 on Joyful Noise Recordings, consists of two long, lurching tracks; you can listen to a fragment of "Pair Bonds" here, which confronts the listener with bright rivulets of atonality, elegantly erratic and halting.
