Oslo-based record label Mutual Intentions is dropping a compilation tape chockful of the best from their eclectic roster. They have already released five songs from MI-005: Mutual Intentions – #2 , the fifth being “Yours Truly,” a dreamy boom bap cut from Ivan Ave.
On “Yours Truly,” Ivan gets up with labelmate Fredfades, who laces him with a gleaming soul flip to get some bars off. Ivan wastes no time, letting us know he’s got “verses for days” and “purpose and praise.” The track focuses on his ascension as an MC and a man–specifically how his trials helped shape his knowledge of self.
“Funny how the quiet nights produces applause, funny how being cooped up in a room open doors,” he ponders. “Yours Truly” is a dope lyrical exercise with inspirational anecdotes strewn throughout.
