Globelamp, "San Francisco"

Post Author: Meredith Schneider

As the next big release from her recent album The Orange Glow, Globelamp (Elizabeth le Fey) premieres the official video for “San Francisco” right here, right now. Directed by Elva Lexa, the video takes us on a brilliantly-colored, pseudo-Victorian, fancy adventure with Globelamp, who describes the video as “extremely personal and symbolic.”
The track is the fifth single from the new album, and shares a name with a Foxygen song. In fact, the video was filmed at the Madonna Inn, which was the same location Foxygen’s “San Francisco” was filmed during the summer of 2013 while le Fey was a touring member of the band. Immediately following the original video shoot, she was fired and became the subject of a bit of controversy. She revisited the hotel for this video to speak her truth.
Says le Fey, “I won’t censor my art or my vision because of my past, and this video is about digging up the remains of the past and transforming it into something beautiful.”
And boy, is it beautiful.
The Orange Glow is out now.
