Since we are talking about thousands of images here, we have decided to chop our offerings into bite-sized pieces. Below is the best of our year in photograhy, part two.

Great band. Just saw them in Austin at Snake Eyes Vinyl.. Real privilege. Keep your eyes on these kids, they're a movement.
Anyway, enjoyed the read.
P.S. The bassist isn't the one with the dreads ;)
Personally, I thought Faunts were pretty amazing.
Although yeah, Shugo Tokumaru was extraordinary.

That's not the lead singer with the tambourine. That's one of the guitarists/keyboardist, Dan Tews. Patrick Stickles, is the lead singer, and is the one playing the kitten.

I ended up drinking away the pain with a more whiskey. Had a blast! The next day my arm was puffy and gooey red and felt super weird. Someone talked me into heading to the hospital where i ended up spending the day nursing an infection. I didnt lose my arm however i am totally diggin on this sweet scar. Thanks for the pad! You guys were awesome. Sorry about all the blood to whoever lives in that apt.
Hey Josh,
wanna be LIONSHARE'S new intern?
We have a comprehensive benefit package including unlimited zebra cakes, blue diamond nuts, Old Grandad Whiskey, and excellent weed.

my thoughts on it werent really the point of my comment. regardless, i think you're generally right concerning the music, and that's usually my focus too. but i was talking about the wider symbiotic relationship between hipsters and their haters.. those two camps tend to share the same sort of knee jerk reactions. apologies if this came off as 'thinking'.

i just don't understand why the fuck people are gettin' their goddamn dungarees in a bundle over bright colors-this and irony-that. fuck the scene, just listen to the music. if you don't like it, fine. if you like it, fine.
kids not thinking hard enough, minnie driver? i mean, i loved you in 'grosse pointe blank,' but i say people like you are thinkin' too fuckin' much. yeah, there's a scene and you can think whatever you want about the people that populate it, but go write an article for 'gawker' if you need to vent. the bottom line is this: it's all about the goddamn music. and this show was fuckin' golden.
if you told me that lionshare was playing a show on the rms titanic's fated maiden voyage, i'd pack my goddamn bags, hop in my delorean and hit 88mph faster than you can say 'trip to feza.'

fuk ya life brick mason! those are my guns!
thanks josh

aw lionshare, 'y'all are thinking too hard'? i appreciate the music accessibility and fun and catchy shit and brick mason is a twat but that sort of talking is unconvincing-- the fact is that most knee jerk reaction to trends, like those of mr. mason's here, comes from an instinct shared generally by conservative people that most new trends are in fact the result of a mass of kids not thinking hard enough.. i'm not talking simply about the costumes people wear, or about getting drunk and crazy which is a way of life i count myself in on.
these knee jerk twats all share a pretty common vibe, that derives from what sane people rely in as a sort of common sense: hipster twats usually don't have freedom of thought or expression, they're aping what is novel, or as you say, thrashing the fuck around with bright colors and toys all day-
so confirm it for him, keep him disgruntled, cut any chance at dialogue - insularity is what keeps a scene strong, afterall, no?
or when they play their music, depending.

I worked the door that night at was catching dude after dude i started to draw peace signs, happy faces sad faces, anti cross's? i guess this goes along with the irony? culture? now im totally fucked! The Death Set could not even go thru an entire song without being mobbed, I believed this was one of the best Ninjasonik sets yet. Lionshare def. hype, cmon a nick drake sample in hardcore rap??.... they pulled it off so well!
I went to this show, and fully enjoyed all the gifts free entertainment has to offer. It is always incredible to hear soul and its brass outdoors. Not to mention getting a hug from Roscoe. I can't say a musician has ever offered such a greeting upon first introductions, Points to how special the event was.

what about those of us who went to both the pool and the basement show? :)
I think the weather was also a factor that day since it was off-and-on raining throughout the early afternoon.
it was unfortunate that it wasn't packed, but I think the preference of young over proven goes beyond brooklyn and is pretty symptomatic of music culture at large - see the amy winehouse / sharon jones with same backing band comparison. or jazz in general.
anyway, those of us that were there appreciate the effort!

i was interested in reading about a great performance put on by some legends of soul, but unfortunately all i got was this whiny indie-hipster kid complaining about writing, talking shit about his "staff" and mentioning other bands and magazines who had nothing to do with rabbit factory or any of the soul musicians that were on this bill. someone on his "staff" needs to tell this whiny kid to start posting this kinda shit on his personal blog. real music fans want to read about their favorite types of music, not some spoiled kids reaction to not being accepted by nyc hipsters.

nice review! wish I could've been downstairs to see NPP.
by the end of the night a bunch of people were trying to fake their way in with sharpie on their hands but were completely obvious bc they weren't soaking wet.
We should stop using that hipster word cause thats all anyone hears or looks for in these kind of rants. I think that rant was more about the state of everything musical, then kids in dumb shirts and glasses.
P.S. why DOES the public have to endure shit talking about the staff?
P.P.S. jake, why is it "staff"
P.P.P.S.I just realized it would be more fun to interpret the word staff to mean a long magical stick
Reading over this again, I wish I had mentioned the quality of the song writing. Granted, I was reviewing the show and not the album. But still, listening to their most recent album for the fifth time in as many days, I'm struck by how well the songs are constructed. So giving credit where credit is due, Khan et al. write very good rock/garage/soul tracks. That this didn't catch my attention so much at the show is perhaps indicative of how much emphasis is placed on the stage shenanigans at their live performances.

when are white people going to follow my lead and replace the n-word in rap music with "ninja?"
Of course, I did have a small pocket of people believing Nas' new album was about karate.
nonetheless, it is still disgusting to know that crackers can't act right.
Whats making it acceptable for everyone to jump around in toxic colors and play with toys. Is that irony again?
