Seen performing with Bloc Party, Savoir Adore & more this past summer; we present you with a debut listen to VHS Collection’s new Stereo Hype EP. The NYC three-piece takes their VCR affinities & fixations to the new neon-streaked dance floors of tomorrow in pursuit of the most precious & precise synth-obsessed pop that the trio of vocalist James Bohannon, guitarist Conor Cook & synthesist Nils Vanderlip can muster.

VHS Collection materializes from the get-go with the haunting of “Ghost” that shines synthesized lights on the inherent possibilities of both the paranormal and the normal. More keys get added to the mix as we cruise into “The Longest Drive” that feels like an outing that takes to the illustrious roads of pure pop on a destination-unknown mission of no return. The color of one’s heart & soul is painted with darker hues on the pensive number “The Black”, while “Waiting on the Summer” provides something to tide you over this fall, winter & spring until the glorious future of summer 2017 arrives. And perhaps that forthcoming new season has already arrived with the festival electrical fancy heard on “Stranger”, that then arrives at the big & bright bloomer “Floating” that tackles the subjects of both “falling apart” and “falling into place” right before you leaving you with the treat listen to the original version of “The Longest Drive” that recalls classic new romantic informed pop from the era when the VHS format reigned.

VHS collection provided us with the following exclusive preface to their new EP:

We had a blast making this EP and are thrilled that our fans have responded well so far. Stereo Hype has been an opportunity for us to show more breadth and experimentation as a band. We got to step outside of our comfort zone, with pure pop numbers like “Waiting On The Summer” on one side of the spectrum and darker more traditional rock tracks like “The Black.” We are excited to get right back in the studio for our debut full length album.
