Ann Arbor, Michigan's Canada have their longest solo tour in the band's young history planned for this summer, and a new full length slated for a potential fall release. Maybe it's inevitable that a band named after a country responsible for a constant stream of incestuous cross-collaborations (i.e. Swan Lake, the million and one permutations of Arts and Crafts bands/Broken Social Scene off shoots) would have a few side-projects of their own.
01) That's Him! That's the Guy. Even though Canada isn't into emboldening us with a timetable for its next album release, this project, lead by Joseph Martin (voice/guitars) and David Martin, promises a November release for An Army Life, a full length on Jumberlack Media.
02) Champions of Breakfast. Two of the dudes have dawned alter egos for some electropop that relishes in ironic dorkiness, referencing Magic cards in its press release (“”Stephin Merritt tapping Urza's Power Plant to call upon Colossus of Sardia (9/9, trample) to lay the smack down on Future Bible Heroes, Heaven 17 and Devo.”) and singing things like “You can never call me bland with my sexy rub on tan.”
03) Broads of Canada. The two females in Canada. Some home-recording sounded cello arrangements including one of Gnarls Barkley's “Crazy".
