Philadelphia metalcore stars announce new album & share explosive new single

Big things are on the horizon for the excellent Philadelphia hardcore and metal unit Jesus Piece. First, they’re set to embark on a big tour with fellow scene superstars Show Me The Body, Scowl, and Zulu, and now they’ve just announced the forthcoming release of their newest album …So Unknown, which drops on April 14 via Century Media. Today they’re also sharing the album’s explosive new single “Gates of Horn” along with its incendiary music video.

“Gates of Horn” is an industrial-tinged behemoth featuring their usual complex instrumentation: unnerving start-stop rhythms, brutal beatdown grooves, and larynx shattering vocals. The track’s video clip, directed with fiery aplomb by Eric Richter, is gritty and violent, taking viewers through a series of terrifying recurring nightmares.

On the making of the band’s upcoming …So Unknown, drummer Luis Aponte shared: “The making of the record was nothing short of all-consuming. It was an intense and challenging process. The record reflects a lot of confusion, but also, evolution. There was a lot of uncertainty and emotion during the pandemic – we all changed and grew so much. So if there is a single thought or concept to the record, it’s constant metamorphosis. That’s also how we operated as a band on this LP – spending a lot of time songwriting and fleshing things out as a unit, and then upping our game from there. It’s definitely a reflection of us as more mature, playing the best we’ve ever played and feeling like a real band for the first time.”

“This is as close to a Jesus Piece experience as you’re going to get without standing in front of us,” he concluded.
