Keith Murray releasing new album

It's been more than a decade since Keith Murray rode the success of The Most Beautifullest Thing in This World, an album that ultimately sold half a million units and may remain his crowning artistic achievement. (How can you beat “Never fakin' I gets down for my crown clown / Shakin the membrane of Encyclopedia Brown?”) Unfortunately, an accusation of assault in 1998 and a 33-month jail stint might slow you down, even if you do have a little help from your friends fighting the power. Some things don't change. Erick Sermon has stuck with his man through nearly all his albums and he's back on the eye-twistingly titled Rap-Murr-Phobia, out on Koch Records. The release reads like a 90's East Coast family renunion, with legendary fellow-Def Squad member Redman spotting alongside Tyrese and Method Man.

The signing to Koch comes a few years after Murray was dropped from Def Jam records, after being accused of choking street team members. After denying any wrong doing, Murray went on to insist to MTV News that he was going independent and releasing a new album within months. This was back in 2003, but it seems Murray's found a new cover under Koch's umbrella.
