Los Angeles’ Lolahiko – comprised of Lauren Marie and Ike Kawaguchi – is set to release their debut EP The Year We Died But Stayed Alive on November 11th. That’s right, their music is just out of arm’s reach here. But the good news is that we’ve got the premiere for the first single off of the highly anticipated EP, “Funeral”, exclusively for you right here.

A thunderstorm and organ music, the darkest funeral you can imagine. Enter gorgeous, ethereal vocals that answer each other’s prayers back and forth. Lauren and Ike’s voices are perfectly vibey, intertwined well with percussion that immediately gets your hips swaying. The sound? Think Tim Burton-meets-Lana del Rey-meets-Bishop Briggs. The sentiment? Melancholic lyrics include “don’t cry at my funeral” because “what’s the point in fucking crying? / I’ve already done the dying,” which, all things considered, makes perfect sense. No matter how morbid the lyrics may be, however, the song is so well produced and so unique in sound that it could double as a dance track.

The Year We Died But Stayed Alive is out November 11th. Stay up to date here.
