Old English ladies and melancholy souls from Boulder

Recorded in Scotland, London and where else but Boulder, Colorado, this album by Still Light, entitled Lything, is most affecting when it's a cloak of competing ambient textures, like during “Hour of the Wolf.” I'm in no mood to vouch for the entirety of this sometimes melodramatically minor-keyed release that often some of the same cues as Blonde Redhead towards slightly sappy, very sad 60s and 70s folk, but there are few things more soothing than an old English lady talking about carrying water up a hill.
