Riah Knight Combines Music & Activism on New Single

Music and activism can often go hand in hand, but rarely do we see and artist with whom activism is so inherently part of their day to day life.

Riah Knight is a songwriter & actress, born in the South of England as part of a travelling Romani community. Growing up, she was surrounded by the Romani civil rights movement. It was in this community that the young artist discovered a passion for performance and songwriting. Since then, she’s performed a groundbreaking play Roma Armee, at the renown Maxim Gorki theatre in Berlin – an exhibit Romani culture in a contemporary context.

Her performance talent soon led her to meet with producer duo in London OJ & Fridel. Heading up The Sonic Crew (Diplo, Lethal Bizzle, Usher) – They are an ever present force in working with London’s next generation of creatives. Together they have created the new single “I Will Roam” – The track draws on a potent mix or organic and electronic elements, with a crystalline vocal that bears Riah’s soul. On the new track Riah states.

“When I sing about rebel fighters I’m talking about these strong, brave, system shaking actors and activists with whom I grew up and have gone on to share the stage”
