The Yeah Yeah Yeahs premiered their new single “Sacrilege” today by streaming it live on BBC Radio 1. The song was released in anticipation of the YYYs new record, Mosquito, which is due out on April 16 through Interscope. Despite how easy it would be, we categorically refuse to resort to insect-themed wordplay to describe the attention and anticipation this record is getting. But we are not above pointing out that the cover image for Mosquito has been torn down by fans for being garish and ugly. Though if Karen O approves, so do I.
This is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' first record since 2009's It's Blitz!. And “Sacrilege” is just the right amount of dancey, groovy, moody that we were looking for, which includes a full gospel choir. Make sure you bring along the chamomile lotion (we almost made it, it was too hard).
