Aryay, "Always Wanted You"

Chicago-based producer Aryay has complemented his reflective “Always Wanted You” single with a brilliantly creative visual. Many people can chronicle their relationship in photographic glimpses, and the OWSLA producer decided to take that circumstance to it’s peak with a flipbook-like moving collage of polaroids that augment singer Kimbra’s lovelorn narrative.
“All the worst is left behind, I always wanted you” she sings as point-and-shoot polaroid pictures weave swiftly through the screen. We see the highs of romance through quiet intimacy in a hot tub and on a bed – and a considerable amount of smoking. The video, which was shot and animated by Dillon Moore, lends a bit of a dark energy to the electropop record, as the imagery portrays a more R-rated relationship than the sunny synths and lithe vocals would suggest on their own. The record is another strong showing from Aryay, who lauded how good it made him feel on Twitter. We’re sure many agree.
