What's a little torso straddling on the beach if you've been playing music together since childhood? This alternative Scatman video by Clipd Beaks is the best I've seen yet, and there are a lot to choose from out there. Somehow, it brings me back to the first time John Scatman visited me. It was VH1, I was about one more Boyz II Men anthem away from a hand job when “sccobity bop dop dibity dip dap” filled the air, and I'd lost my hang-out-in-my-parent's basement date to a balding man with an overgrown Hitler mustache. Didn't she know where that thing had been? Oh well. Who can blame her. Those Scats were unbelievable. “As a matter of fact, don't let nothing back, because if the Scatman can do it, so can you.” Yeah Scatman? I can't. So STOP DOING IT TO MY GIRLFRIEND. We broke up.
Clipd Beaks is our favorite psych thrash band of the year. Hands down. While we can't think of other bands that we'd call “psych thrash”, we'd still call Clipd Beaks our favorite, if only because they too know the seductive powers of the Scat.
They're going on a massive tour starting in October and ending in December, hitting up basically every town in North America, so if you miss them, it's your own fault. Don't!
