On Repeat: Kidz in the Hall, “Drivin Down the Block”

Post Author:

Calibrated to rattle the nastiest subwoofers on the road, this is Double-O and Naledge of Kidz in the Hall racking up their own sort of street cred. Down-pitched shout out to Tribe for the chorus (“drivin down the block / Low End Theory tape in / open up the trunk / bass crazy kickin it”) and another in a verse (“playin number six / 'Show Business' is my shit”), but wherever the block is, Naledge's dressed for the (country) club: “so damn clean, Polo Rugby and Jordan 16's.” And wherever they are (driving down interstate 87, actually), this track's rattling their trunk in Miami bass tribute, a little like Spank Rock and Benny Blanco's recent EP, proving a wide range, after their recent mixtape.

Their upcoming album The In Crowd (Duck Down/Major League) hosts a grocery list of guests including The Clipse, The Cool Kids, Black Milk, Guilty Simpson, Travis of GYM CLASS HEROES, Camp Lo, Sean Price, Buckshot, Masta Ace, Wale, The Pack, Phonte and Skyzoo.
