Q-Tip roars back into the 00s

Post Author:

For lots of hip hop heads, the 00s have been all about staying on top of 90s hip hop legends and their victory laps, whether in the form of Ghostface Killah and Nas releasing relevant material, or Q-Tip getting… honors from VH1, which everyone knows is the blackest cable network in America. (Didn't know? Well you heard it here first.) VH1's Hip Hop Honors, (the site of honoring in question) has been running for four years, during which they've also developed such programs as I Love the 90s, So 80s and I Hate My 30s. Just saying.

More importantly, Q-Tip is also touring with Common and putting out a new album, aptly titled The Renaissance (Universal Motown) and slated for an early 2008 release. Though he's featured frequently on other people's tracks, his two 21st century albums Kamaal the Abstract and Open have yet to see public distribution. That makes his upcoming release his first official solo entrance into the 00s.
