Detroit electropop duo unleashes video for careening, off-kilter banger

The fearless Detroit electronic pop unit Snow Strippers have been lighting up the internet’s DIY underground for a few years now, conjuring a hypnotic and off-kilter revival of electroclash and witch house. Back in 2022, the duo – comprised of producer Graham Perez and singer Tatiana Schwaninger – released their debut LP The Snow Strippers, an extremely fresh, entertaining, and wildly underrated record. They’ve since dropped a string of excellent new records, and look to be gearing up for a huge 2024. Today, they continue that roll with the video for careening banger “Aching Like It’s” – off their EP Night Killaz which dropped a few months ago.

Pounding house beats, disco keyboard flourishes and driving synths form the sonic backbone of “Aching Like It’s,” as Schwaninger’s haunting vocals steer the ship with lyrics touching on longing, loneliness, pain, and loss. The track is full of adventure and sexuality – while still balancing plenty of poignant emotions – a dynamic signature to Snow Strippers’ sound. The song’s music video – directed by the duo with special help from Robert Soltero and Jason Olivares – shows them riding around on motorcycles and miming along to the track with a feeling of reckless abandon, a perfect encapsulation of their overall vibe.

After dropping a series of EPs and mixtapes last year via Surf Gang Records, Snow Strippers look set for yet another big year ahead – hopefully another album? Whatever the case, we’ll continue to keep tabs. For now, you can give “Aching Like It’s” a spin below:
