Stik Figa drops free album

Earlier this week we put you on to a free compilation that featured Stik Figa putting a verse to a re-interpolated Pharcyde classic. He's back on the free market with a collaborative album with producer D/Will.

Hellogoodbye works in the traditional rap formula of one emcee and one producer. It's refreshing that D/Will takes the tradition to heart by working on the MPC and not a computer program. Meanwhile, Stik Figa continues to impress. His nonchalance flow permeates the soul of D/Will's production as he seizes the mic with an iron grip and never lets go, even when it's time to say goodbye.

Hellogoodbye is a record of ups and downs. Stik Figa takes several opportunities to boast his credentials as a capable MC, but it's the sincere moments of reflection when the record hones in on the concept of a series of suicide notes to his son, that Stik can clutch at the heartstrings of listeners. Stik took the “fuck being hard, be complicated” chapter out of Posdnous's playbook and applied it to his writing.

Hellogoodbye is brought to you by the good people over at 2DopeBoyz blog. You can download the album directly here.
